Private participation in education aimed at producing excellent and globally competitive graduates is a most welcome development. Imbued with the mission to provide quality education, WEST BAY COLLEGES, INC. formally opened its doors to the first batch of 50 students in Scholl Year 1996-1997 after the permits to offer six programs were approved by the Commision on Higher Education (CHED).

Strategically located on the western shore of Laguna de Bay in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, WBC is at the crossroads to Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon or CALABARZON and, as such, it is accessible to students from southern Luzon and the cities of Las Piñas, Parañaque, Taguig, Makati, Pasay and Pasig.

With Bachelors of Science in Maritime Transportation and Marine Engineering as its flagship courses, the college operates on full speed in its quest for excellence. Its other course are B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Business Administration, Computer Science and Associate in Computer Secretarial. Early classes were held at Pauline Building 1 on the Wawa Campus along Bunye Street. Later in October 1996, the groundbreaking for Pauline Bldg. 2 was held.

ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED

True to its mission and vision, the college submitted itself to the process of accreditation to the much-coveted international certification standards and earned the Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Quality System Certificate for Conformity to the Quality System standard ISO 9001:1994 and the DNV Management Systems Certificate under the provisions of the DNV "Rules for Maritime Academies" on March 1, 2000. Furthermore, it gained international prestige for being included in the Compendium List of Maritime Schools all over the world.

Soon after, on March 30, 2000, the College held its First Commencement Exercises. Since then, the college annually churns out graduates in various disciplines, most of whom are now gainfully employed professionals in various business enterprises and industries. The number of maritime graduates on board sea-going vessels is also steadily growing.

In SY 2001-2002, in its desire to expand its services, the College started offering TESDA-TVET courses, namely Seafarer Deck and Engine Ratings; Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Operation; and Marine Engineering Technology course. The Caregiver and Nursing Assistant Courses were offered in SY 2002-2003

For strictly implementing its quality system, West Bay College was granted College-wide DNV ISO 9001:2008. All the academic programs, including TVET courses and Assessment Center are covered by the certification. WBC is one of the very few colleges in the country today that is fully-certified.
